When they arrive at Uncle Samuel S. Stingysnout's crazy castle, it's in the middle of nowhere --- and built out of all kinds of materials, even aluminum cans. In order to get in the castle, they must travel across the stinky moat in an old patched inner tube. Geronimo is appalled by his uncle's home and is amazed that his uncle loves it so much. He regrets going on the trip with his entire heart, especially after Trap tricks him into taking off his pants in front of a bunch of guests.
Because of Uncle Samuel's thrifty ways, the room Geronimo stays in is really poor and depressing. It holds a fireplace with pretend flames and a book that you can't open. Can things get any worse? Yes, as a matter of fact. When Geronimo needs the bathroom, he must ask his uncle for the key. Uncle Samuel can't hear very well and Geronimo can't wait. He's so impatient that he makes a fuss. Now the guests think Geronimo is a mouse who takes his pants off in public and is rude to his uncle. And that is not the end of his humiliation --- all because of prankster Trap.
Geronimo is amazed when the bride, Patience Plainpaws, begins to serve dinner wearing a maid's uniform. Geronimo overhears visitors discussing the fact that Patience was once wealthy but has since lost her fortune. Dinner itself is shocking because there is so little of it, and the castle is freezing. Is there any way this wacky wedding trip can have a happy ending worthy of a Geronimo Stilton book? You might be surprised…then again, you might not be!

Geronimo's crush, television reporter Petunia Pretty Paws, and her brother Wolfie persuade Geronimo to travel with them to Australia where they will work on a documentary to protect the land and animals. Unfortunately (gulp!) they mention upfront that there may be bungee jumping and skydiving in afraid-to-fly Geronimo's immediate future.
Before they leave, Petunia and Wolfie outfit Geronimo with contact lenses (since you can't bungee jump or skydive in glasses). The contacts come in handy as soon as Geronimo and his friends land in Sydney, Australia, where Wolfie insists Geronimo go surfing with him! He actually survives (and enjoys) hanging ten, which encourages him to dive right into his next athletic aquatic adventure: swimming with dolphins.
When the three adventurers drive through Australia's desert, Aborigines Wangara and Wani travel with them. As they ride through the bush, the travelers see exotic plants and birds. Geronimo gets kicked by a kangaroo and punctured by an echidna, an animal with sharp quills. A giant bird called an emu attacks him, and he gets up close and personal with an incredibly poisonous snake. But that is just the beginning of Geronimo's trials. Soon he finds himself alone and lost in the huge Australian outback. Does Geronimo have what it takes to survive on his own?
In DOWN AND OUT DOWN UNDER, we not only get to enjoy Geronimo's outback adventures but also learn all about jet lag and why people need glasses, as well as many fascinating facts about the continent of Australia.

Geronimo is shocked when Thea and Trap congratulate him on being such a "sportsmouse." Have they confused him with someone who can actually do something athletic? But when his friend Champ shows up, the mystery is cleared up: Champ informs Geronimo that he signed him up for the Mouse Island Marathon. Geronimo's co-workers are tickled pink and treat him like he’s a hero.
The next morning, Champ wakes up Geronimo way too early in order to train him for the race. Geronimo is less than delighted. Training month after month is absolute torture, even with Geronimo's family members cheering him on. Geronimo keeps on putting one running shoe in front of the other while dread of the actual race builds inside him. As he heads for the city in which the race will be held, he reads the newspaper and discovers that a horrifying wild cat is on the loose. Could this be a bad omen?

So they set off in Grandfather's cheese-colored camper.
When they finally reach Stilton, they're ready to sample the famouse British cheese. But, alas, they learn that someone has stolen all the Stilton cheese in the entire village. Geronimo suspects that he knows who’s stealing the cheese, but he can't figure out why a thief would need so much Stilton. As he tries to solve the case, Geronimo finds himself embarrassed, frightened and frozen, but still determined.

Trap brings Geronimo a fascinating old map of Mongolia's Gobi Desert, filled with creepy names such as Bones Lake and Mystery Mountains. Trap found the ancient treasure map in the trunk of Wandering Wally, their ancestor. When the cousins look in the trunk, they come across equipment Wally used on his many adventures, plus his diary, which is crammed with daring tales. In fact, Uncle Wally was searching for the treasure spot marked on the Mongolian treasure map when he died. Geronimo feels that, by searching for the treasure, they will honor Uncle Wally's memory (but Trap says he's in it for the money).
Thea and Benjamin join Trap and Geronimo on their trip. During the plane rides, Geronimo is a bit distracted by a beautiful blonde mouse who appears to be headed in the same direction. Soon, Geronimo finds out that she is Karina von Fossilsnout, a museum director. He can't help but confide in her about their search. But when Geronimo calls his friend Petunia, she informs him that Dr. von Fossilsnout hates to travel. The next day, Dr. von Fossilsnout is nowhere to be found. Can this ominous turn of events spell disaster for their treasure hunt?
VALLEY OF THE GIANT SKELETONS is another enjoyable Geronimo Stilton adventure, with the series' trademark humor and fur-raising situations (like being lost in the desert without a guide, food, water or car! Yikes!). In addition, the book is packed with fascinating facts about the Orient Express, Mongolia and dinosaurs. And, as always, Geronimo revels in meeting new friends and being with his family.
