The kind-hearted inhabitants of Redwall adopt
the abandoned offspring of an evildoer. Infant Veil, the ferret son
of warlord Swartt Sixclaw, has been left for dead by his father and
comrades. So Byrony, a kind mousemaid, and the other gentle creatures
of the Abbey take him in and raise him as their own.
When an older Veil is banished from the Abbey for betraying his adopted
homeland, he must decide if he'll join forces with Sixclaw --- a father
who left him for dead --- or help badger Sunflash the Mace claim the
Mossflower mountain stronghold, Salamandastron.
