At my school, we have a reading program called Accelerated Reader.  With Accelerated Reader, each student is required to have a certain amount of "points" at the end of each school quarter.  Each book on the Accelerated Reader reading list is worth a certain amount of points.  On this list are tons of books, anything from a small 30-page or so book to Dickens masterpieces and long 1000 page books like "Gone With the Wind" and other classics.  You can pick any book you so choose, as long as you have aquired the set amount of points at the end of the quarter.  Without this program, I probably would not have read many of the books I have read today

The books I have to read for summer reading are Among the Hidden and The Outsiders. I have read them both byt I like Aming the Hidden the best because it is about a boy who is the third child of a family and because of this he is not supposed to be alive so he is hiding all his life.

Dear Booker-
I did not get a reading list!

A Thoughtful Thinker

anything

THE SCHOOL STORY

* * * * * *

I had to read Pearl S. Buck's, The Good Earth.
At first it was going a bit slow,-no dragons, no knights, no special things happening to the main character(s)-but then I realized that it was all about life. True life. Not the kind where amazing things happen to you because of magic. I realized that this book was literally about the Chinese lifestyle. No flourishes, she just told it like it is/was. If someone has to read this book (for sumer reading) and decides that it's too slow,-or it's not their type-I'd tell them to give it a chance...for the end makes it all worth while.
(by the way---if you don't want to take me up on my advice because you think I'm a realist; this comes from someone who reads books by Tamora Pierce, Philip Pullman and C.S Lewis. Believe me, I'm as matrix as they come)

* * * * * *

A few years ago I had to read Anne of Green Gables--it was a great book. (I followed up on it, reading the other 7 books as well)
Umm...I saw that one girl/boy wrote in response to your question "What's your favorite book series?" she said that she hopes that L.M.Montgomery would write more; I'd just like to tell her that L.M.Mongomery died a looooong looooooong time ago. (I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't want her to keep her hopes up) Thanks! Keep reading ya'll!!

Some of the books that are on my DCF reading list are...

1. Because of Winn Dixie
2. Homeless Bird
3. Joey Pigza loses Control
4. The Savage Damsel and the Dwarf
and a whole lot more that I can't think of!!!!!
