A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

Father's Day is this coming Sunday, June 16th. I've been trying to come up with some great ideas for some friends of mine to do with their dad on Father's Day. I decided to go through some books and see what we have here in Bookworm about dads. I found some great ideas for my friends in our Father's Day books feature. After reading a few of our book reviews at KidsReads.com, one friend has decided to go fishing with his dad after reading FISHING WITH DAD. Another friend read ROCKS IN HIS HEAD and is going to a museum with his father. Do you have any special plans with your dad for the day? I'd love to hear how you spent your day. In the meantime, maybe you can get an idea of what to do with your dad by browsing through our selection of Father's Day books.

Need your help.
We are planning interview Jerry Jenkins, one of the authors of the Left Behind Series in the next two weeks. If you have a question that you would like to ask Mr. Jenkins, please send it to us at YouSaid@kidsreads.com.

Thanks for reading the newsletter this week! Remember to click on the blue underlined letters to go to any feature listed in the newsletter.

Now on to more news...

Book Review:

MISS HAPPINESS AND MISS FLOWER by Rumer Godden
Eight-year-old Nona is from India, but is living in England with her aunt and cousins. Nona is lonely, and longs to feel a part of the family. One day a box containing Miss Happiness and Miss Flower arrives from a great-aunt in America and changes everything for Nona.

SOMEDAY by Jackie French Koller
In 1938, 14-year-old Celie, her grandmother (Grann), and her mother are living in Enfield, a town in western Massachusetts. Four towns, including Enfield, are to be flooded so that the people of Boston will have a water resevoir. Celie and her Grann don't want to leave their home, which has been Grann's home since her wedding day. Although Someday is a fictional story about Celie and her family's struggle not to leave their home, the Quabbin Resevoir exists today, and the land was really flooded to create it.

*****

Does anyone like reading babysitters club? I have the whole colletion i read all of them.

*****

I have read a book called The Pigman's Legacy by Paul Zindel. It was published a long time ago, in 1980, so no one has probably read or heard of it here. It is an extremely good book. It was better the the Harry Potter books (and I am the #1 Harry Potter fan), it was better than The Lottie Project..it's the best book I have ever read. It's changed my perspective on life. It has touched me in a way no other book could ever do so. It's about a boy and a girl who find an old man in a deserted house of their old friend who died-and find some secrets (big ones). It is sad, but it is also happy. I reccomend this book for people 12-13, because of affairs that people as young as me should not be reading about. I don't care though, because this book has become my #1 favorite. If you read this book, you'll understand why. You'll treasure this book forever.

*****

To the 12 year olds who said they'd run out of good books; I know these sound really dorky, but a good series is the royal diaries.
Anastaisia
Marie Antoinette
Elizabeth 1
Isabel
Cleopatra
There's also an African queen, but I don't remember her name. Another good one is the silver crown.

*****

You should put Katherine Roberts on your authors list. Katherine wrote 3 different books (that I know about). She wrote The Echorium Sequence, and Spellfall. The Echorium Secguence has 2 different books (so fair!) they are Song Guest and Crystal Mask. These books are breathtaking and sometimes moved me to tears. Spellfall is equally as good. I recommend this book to anybody who likes Harry Potter, this books helped me over come my addiction to Harry Potter.

*****

Two great books!:
A Little Princess
The Secret Garden
They are amazing books and I enjoyed reading them so much! They are both written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I hope you will read them too, you could get some ideas out of it......

*****

Ive told my whole class this: the 5th Harry Potter book is coming out this year! and that harry potter websites are closing down. i could not believe it and neither could they. (i was just letting you know)

*****

Whoever said that they are not going to do the 4th book is wrong the book is out.

*****

If you like horse books you should read Eagle's Wings and Home is Where Your Horse Is. They are abnout how God helps two two girls from different stories get through hard times. You should read them!
