A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones opened in theaters today! My nephews, Text Reader and Diction Ary asked me to take them to see it this weekend. They know I loved reading the books in the Star Wars series, so they feel I will love the movie, too. I have taken them to every Star Wars movie made, so I guess this is a family tradition. I am excited to see it, and I decided to go to the Star Wars feature we have at BOOKWORM to keep me busy while I wait for the movie. The activities, reviews, and links will really get me in the mood for the weekend movie. If you are a Star Wars fan, I suggest you check out this great feature. If you see the Star Wars one, I'd love to hear how you liked it.

We also are bringing you a VERY special book this week --- AMERICA: A Patriotic Primer, a book that was written by Lynne Cheney, the Vice-President's wife. It's a great way to learn about what being patriotic really means!

Thanks for reading the newsletter this week! Remember to click on the blue underlined letters to go to any feature listed in the newsletter.

Now on to more news…

--Booker T. Worm

Book Review:

STINK ALLEY by Jamie Gilson
Lizzy escaped to Holland from Scrooby, England in 1608 when a man named William Brewster and about 150 people fled their homes and country to escape religious persecution by King James. They separated from the Church of England, so they are called Separatists. Lizzy's friend Will thinks that Mr. Brewster has lead them into a horrible life, and he wants to escape. It seems that nothing Lizzy does makes Mr. Brewster happy. Will Lizzy stay in Stink Alley, or will she escape, yet again?

We Asked, You Said
Last week's question of the week asked: If you were going to pick a book to share with your mom for Mother's Day, what would it be? Click here to read the responses to last week's Question of the Week.

To the girl who said: I love, and mean love, to read books. I especially love writing contest because my future ambition is to become an author. I have already written over 50 stories. I would love to become part of a book club. I am a straight A student, and I am in the 6th grade. This summer, I will reach my summer reading goal, 30 books. And, because I am such a good student and writer, they will put me in the OPTIONAL PROGRAM!

We have a lot in common! I love to read, I'm in the 6th grade and I look for contests for me to participate it (writing). I have a little book club of my own, but it's not as good as this one. I'm not the greatest student, but for 11, people say my writing is pretty good. I'm fast to read, so I can read about... 10 books a month, depending on the thickness and I think having a goal is a good idea! Thanks!

*****

To the girl who submitted something about Sharon Creech and Walk Two Moons. I love her books! I've read all of them except Pleasing the Ghost, which I cannot find anywhere! But I just can't stop reading them over and over again. My favorite I think is.... Chasing Redbird. I can remember the first chapter (which was called Tangled Spaghetti)! I haven't read it in a while... I think I'll read it again!

*****

One thing I would like when I'm older (maybe a grandma) is a room in my house that we'll call 'the library.' It would be filled with books all across the room! I'd try to make it cozy and everyone who likes to read would just pick a book out of the bookshelves and curl up in a chair by the fire. I would save all my books that I've had, and even collect some old ones and buy some that I think the children would like. Ahh... what a dream!

*****

To whoever wrote that they liked The Series of Unfortunate Events, I love those books too. They are my favorite books of all time. I think the 9th book, The Carniverous Carnival is coming out this year.
