A NOTE FROM BOOKER
Hello!
The weather was terrible here last weekend and no one wanted to go out in it, so my sister FayeBelle decided to have some worm kids come over for a craft Saturday. Faye Belle is really good at crafts and making things. She got her best friend Rita Book to help her. Rita Book is a great artist who can paint really neat pictures.
So, Rita Book and Faye Belle gathered all sorts of art materials at Faye Belle's house. Then, they invited the worm kids to come over to make some neat craft projects. They set up one table with all types of beads and fishing line to make beaded bracelets and rings. Faye Belle was in charge of that table. Rita Book helped the kids paint T-shirts with their favorite book scenes on them. They want to wear them to school once they are all dry. My best friend, named Book Mark, even dropped by to help the kids make some really great paper airplanes. He promised them that he would take them to the park on next Saturday, so they can fly them in the air. As you can see, they had a lot of fun making a lot of projects! Faye Belle got her ideas from some terrific craft books she has collected. We wrote some reviews of them for you, so you can get the books to make some crafts at home. Check out our Craft/Activity Books to see the reviews.
Are you one who likes to do crafts? If so, what do you like to make?
Remember to click on the blue underlined letters to go to any feature listed in the newsletter.

Question of the Week
Here's this week's Question of the Week:
What books would you read to cheer up if you were stuck in bed with a cold?
Send your answer to YouSaid@kidsreads.com. Write "Question" in the subject line. We'll post your answers online! Tell your friends to submit their answer to the question of the week.
Sarah's Page - Part 5
Here's a question from an e-mail I received that just begged answering here:
I was wondering what 'Sarah's Page' is. Is it a book? If so where do you think i could get it? I'm sure that my N.J. school doesn't have it in it's library. And you mention it in ev'ry Newsletter. So that leaves me with only one question: What is it? Well thanks! c'ya...
From Booker T Worm: Sarah's Page is published by Sleeping Bear Press and is available at offline and online bookstores, including Amazon.com. The author, Anna Murray, approcahed us in December and asked us if we'd be interested in publishing her book, Sarah's Page on kidsreads.com. After reading the book, we knew you'd love it and decided to share it with adding a section each week. Section One covers pages 1-13, Section Two covers pages 13-26, Section Three covers pages 26-37, Section Four covers pages 37-50, and Section Five covers page 50 through the end of the book. On January 23rd, we will give you a sneak preview of SARAH'S PAGE II, scheduled to be published next Fall. We also have a great contest to name a dog and a horse in Anna Murray's next book --- Sarah's Page II. Click here to read the details. To see our new trivia game we've added for Sarah's page, click here. Remember to check your local online or offline bookstore to buy a copy of your own. Wouldn't that be one very cool present to give someone?
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
This year we celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 21st. Dr. King was a champion of the civil rights movement. He led people in the struggle against racism, prejudice and segregation laws, trying to secure equal treatment and respect for all. He was arrested 30 times for his activities. But for his good words and deeds, Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. paid the ultimate price. He was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1986, the third Monday of January was declared a national holiday.
Check out the books listed in our Martin Luther King, Jr. Day feature to learn more about this American hero.
Jackie Chan Adventures Series
In addition to Jackie Chan's movies and animated show, you can follow all the action in the new series of books entitled JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES. Based on the animated series, JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES tell the story of Jackie’s efforts to find 12 powerful talisman before they fall into the wrong hands!
Each book comes with a trading card and a chart to help you figure out which sign of the Chinese Zodiac you were born under. Are you an ox? A rat? A horse? Check out the special page in the middle of each book to find out. Also, each story ends with a special message from Jackie, reminding readers of the important lessons discussed in the book.
BOOK REVIEWS:
SECRETS IN THE HOUSE OF DELGADO
14-year-old Maria Sanchez finds herself in a difficult situation. She has lost her parents and her little brother to sickness and she has no food or money to survive. Her uncle is the captain of a ship, but he's always at sea. But then one day, the Catholic Church helps Maria find a job working for the wealthy Delgado family in exchange for money, clothes, and food. Sounds great, but Maria must also do the priest a big, sneaky favor: she has to spy on the family! Read SECRETS IN THE HOUSE OF DELGADO to find out how Maria deals with this difficult situation.

I read books when I'm grumpy, when I'm lumpy**, and feeling blue when I do I suddenly feel better again, (especially when I'm reading Harry Potter) I always feel happier by a lotter, and when I'm not grumpy or lumpy or feeling blue I still read a lot, so there'll be something to do!

Hey Booker T. Worm! I LOVEEE your site and think it is the best. I am currently reading "Stolen by the Sea" by Anna Myers. I first found out about the book from your website and it is a great book so far. I recommend it for people ages 8-13. Another pretty good book (recommended for 7-10) is "Wizards Don't Use Computers" and it is part of the Bailey School Kids books. You may find that book a little too easy if your my age, 11 or older though. Another great book i've read was "Sixth Grade Star" by Constance Hiser. This book is about a girl in the 6th grade named Jill who has a little sister, Jessica that always enters all these contests and pageants and wins. Jill is sorta jealous of her and she wants to be a star too. When Jill enters the 6th grade play for The Wizard of Oz, that play is on the same day as one of Jessica's pageants. Will Jill's mom and her sister be there to see her or not? Read the book to find out!

There are a lot of books that I am currently reading, and I suggest that you read these books: The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett and The Wind in the
Willows by Kenneth Grahame. These are both classics, and I knew they were great because both the characters and plots are well-made by the time I was in the
middle of reading them.
I also recommend the Harry Potter series and schoolbooks (Quidditch through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and where to find them.), Sweet Valley series (mind you, this is my largest collection. I have SV High, SV twins and more) Goosebumps, The Unicorn Club, and all the Baby-Sitters Club books.
I also have inspirational books such as Stories for the Teen's Heart books 1 and 2, Stories for the Extreme Teen's heart, Chocolate for the Teen's Heart, Chicken Soup for the Teen's soul, Journal for a Teen's Heart books 1 and 2, Diary of a Teenage girl and its sequel, It's My Life. They have stories that can inspire, touch and warm your heart.
And by these, you know that I am a bookworm don't you? I am one, and when I finished important tasks in my free time, you'll find me in my bedroom reading books, writing stories or reading magazines such as Questor, Seventeen, Chalk, Star Studio and Candy when I'm not surfing the Internet.
*****
I think you should post Pre-Teen Is In Between I think it's a great book for all pre-teen girls.

Dear Booker Worm T & Fellow Bookworm Readers,
Wow, I haven't sent in a letter in a while! I have a few books to talk about that were mentioned in the last newsletter. Firstly, this is not about reading, but I like the little gator joke! It was very cute. Second, I want to say something about the Redwall series. I don't find them very interesting, and I am an excellent reader and I'm not very fussy. I think the Redwall books are for boys more then the girls. Our teacher was reading the first Redwall book to us, and we girls thought it was pretty boring, but the boys all loved it and now you see them all with Redwall books! Third, a person mentioned the Series of Unfortunate Events. Currently, our teacher is reading the first book as a read aloud. I've wanted to read them and when I saw the book, I was so happy! My teacher had told us that she didn't think Lemony Snicket WAS his real name. We have all been wondering about that question!! Thanks for whomever said it was Daniel Handler-I can't wait to tell my teacher!! Now I've got some book suggestions to make.....
Have you ever read the books of Mysteries In Our National Parks? I have 2 books, and there are many of them, but you don't have to read them in order. They are mystery, and the characters are fake, but the parks they mention are real. The two I have are CliffHanger and The Hunted. They cost 5.95 each, and in Canada, they cost 8.50. I highly reccomend these books! Also, Nancy Drew is great to read if your into mystery a lot like I am.
*****
These are some of my favorite books:
1. Secret Garden by Frances Hodedegeson Burnett
2. Matilda by Roald Dahl
3. Saddle Club by Bonnie Bryant= Any girl who LOVES Horses will LOVE this Series!!!
4. Bridge to Terebithia
5. A Jar of Dreams by Yoshiko Uchida
from a Fifth Grade READer
*****
Do you know Ben M. Baglio I love his book called Fox In The Frost. I would love to tell him that he could make a movie out of it i cried for an hour after reading it.
*****
I have made a list of all the BEST books ever. (in my opinion, anyway!)
1. All 4 Harry Potter Books-J.K. Rowling
2. The Face on the Milk Carton-Caroline B. Cooney
3. Anything else except The Terrosrist and Flashfire by Caroline B Cooney, ESPECIALLY the "Tme" quartet. It's just the right mixture of suspense, action, romance, and mystery! There's Both Sides of Time, Out of Time, 1 I can't remember, and For all Time.
4. Ella Enchanted-Gail Carson Levine
**Also-- I'm ordering the Princess Set of books by Gail Carson Levine... they're going to be AWESOME!!!**
So basically, the three BEST AUTHORS EVER ARE JK ROWLING, CAROLINE B COONEY, AND GAIL CARSON LEVINE.

I have only just recently become a fan for harry potter and read all four books during the christmas holidays, one after the other. The error you have already mentioned about Lily and James appearing out of the wand had been corrected in the version I read, but I did pick up another major error concerning Dobby, has anyone else picked this up? If not, I shall write to the publishers and point it out.
