A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

Our Kidsreads.com mailbox always is filled with letters from you asking us to put a complete book online. Last month an author named Anna Murray approached us and offered to do this with her book --- SARAH'S PAGE. After reading it we knew it would be the perfect book to share with you.

Sarah is one very cool kid from New York. During a hurricane, her family's beach home is destroyed. Shortly after that she is thrown from a horse giving her a concussion. With all the stress Sarah's family is under, her sister's house in rural Michigan seemed a good place for her to recover. At least it did to her parents and her sister. To Sarah, it is like being sent to a completely foreign land. While she is there she sends email to a friend back in the city describing her new world --- and, yes, bemoans the fact that she misses life in the city. In fact, the entire book is written as an email journal, which we know you can relate to. What makes the book a bit different is that many of the experiences Sarah refers to in the book, are also featured in detail on the website SarahsPage.com.

From December 12th through January 9th we will put up new sections of the book every Wednesday. Don't worry if your vacation plans or school schedule keep you from reading along. You will be able to go back and read the sections that you missed.

On December 19th we will give you details about a special Kidsreads.com/Sarah'sPage Contest where the Grand Prize will be a Palm Pilot.

On January 16th, we will give you a sneak preview of SARAH'S PAGE II, scheduled to be published next Fall!

Sounds fun, right? If you enjoy what you read, why not email this page to a friend? Here is where you need to go to see this new feature: Sarah's Page

Now for this week's news...

BOOK REVIEWS:

MYSTERY ON SKULL ISLAND
12-year-old Rachel has lived in New York with her grandparents ever since her mother died. Rachel hasn't seen her father in 7 years when he sends for her to come live with him in Charles Town, South Carolina. In 1724 sailing to the Carolinas is dangerous because of pirates. Rachel's worst fears come true when her ship, the Betsy Jo, is run down and boarded by pirates. They steal the pearl necklace that belonged to Rachel's mother! Will Rachel get her mother's pearl necklace back? You'll have to read MYSTERY ON SKULL ISLAND to find out.

THE BOY IN THE BURNING HOUSE
THE BOY IN THE BURNING HOUSE is a fast paced, thrilling ride that begins quietly and builds intensity as the pages fly by. At its center is Jim Hawkins, a completely average young guy who finds he can no longer place his faith in his knowledge of the world. And with only his friend Ruth Rose to help him piece together all the mysteries, Jim feels as if he's gotten into something he can't control. He knows he must find the truth or he won't have a future.

A friend like mine is hard to find
A friend like mine is one of a kind
A friend like mine gives advice when you feel lost
A friend like mine remindes you when you forget to floss
A friend like mine is special and glad
A friend like mine is around when you feel bad
A friend like mine is special because she thinks what I cant say.
She trust me when away.
She knows my feelings when I cant express them.
A friend like mine is really one of a kind.

Fun In The Sun
Once there was a girl named Ashly.
She didn't like to play outside.
Her Mom bought her a swingset.
Ashly, her Mom yelled, look at that.
Wow! she said that's neat what is it?
It's a swingset.
Bring it in so I can play with it.
I can't, it's for outside.
Oh nevermind Ashly said.
Ok fine I will go play outside.
Later on, Ashly's mom came to play with her.
She was having so much fun.
When she was done they played Soccer.

  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
