A NOTE FROM BOOKER
Hello!
Did you know that National TV Turnoff week is April 23 through April 29? Has your family turned on the TV this week? If you've kept the TV off, I bet you've found many fun and interesting things to do. As bookworms know, there are enough good books to read to keep you busy for a lifetime. Here at Kidsreads.com, we have decided to read as many books as we can this week so that we will have many new book reviews to share with you! The worm kids also are making crafts from some of the books we have in our crafts feature. Have a great TV-free week!
--- Booker T. Worm
Author Birthdays
We have a new feature that I'm very excited to tell you about! It's called Author Birthdays. We will update this feature every month. So what are you waiting for? Go and find out who's birthday is in April!
Gardening Books
Spring is here and I've got more than just a touch of spring fever! I decided it was time to dust off the gardening books and get busy planting! Do you like to plant flowers or vegetables? What's your favorite thing to grow?
Math Mania
Not only is April National Poetry Month, but it's also Math Awareness Month. Whether you realize it or not, cooking, shopping, and even playing hide-and-seek all require a bit of math. In our nifty collection, you'll find books about counting, fractions, and a thrilling novel. So don't be afraid to explore --- we're counting on you!
THE TURNING POINT
This is the first book in the Michelle Kwan Presents Skating Dreams series, and it includes a letter from Michelle addressed to you, in which she tells you a little bit about herself. All the books in the series include a full-color postcard of Michelle, plus her answers to real e-mails from her fans. There is an address where you can write to her, too.
In THE TURNING POINT, you'll meet 10-year-old Lauren Wing, a girl who loves to skate. She's training and practicing for the Regionals competition for novices, and she's looking forward to moving up, to become a junior-level skater, and then a senior-level skater.
SAY GOOD-BYE
Remember the puppies from the first book in the Wild at Heart vet volunteer series? The
ones from the puppy mill that Zoe's cousin Maggie tried to save? Well, in SAY GOOD-BYE, the puppy that
Zoe's grandmother, Dr. J.J. MacKenzie, let her keep is now six months old, and goes by the
name of Sneakers. Dr. J.J. told Zoe that she is responsible for training him, and she's
having a rough time of it.

My own world
The sun, shining like diamonds. The sky like a big, blue blanket. The flowers bloom like
fireworks as they shoot up from the ground. The ocean calm and quiet, the sand like warm,
glittering crystals under my feet. The peppermints on the cool, slick terrace are sugary
as they melt in my mouth. The orange groves smell sweet and tangy. The surfers call out to
each other as they walk to the beach, surfboards under their arms. The kids scream and
giggle as the race down the block in shorts and tee-shirts. The sun's rays catch my cat's
fur and it shines golden in the light. A rainbow comes out and shines with all the
colors like a line of girls with colorful skirts. I watch the sunset as it fades
away in the dim light of the sky and the glittering stars come out as if lying on a big,
black blanket. The stars and moon are the pearl necklace that wraps around mother nature's
neck. I smile, knowing that the world around me is my own.

The book I am reading right now is called Runaway Ralph by Beverly Cleary.

Someone in the last newsletter said that they met an author, and he told
them, "John saw a monster." Then they said another better way of saying it is,
"John saw a huge, green, slimy thing with bog and white fangs." Well, I have
this special program for school, and for example you could add, "running toward
me." (So John saw a huge, slimy thing with bog and white fangs running toward him)
You could change running to skipping and stuff, just like the author told this person. At
my school, we call it turning wimpy verbs (running) to strong verbs (skipping). Thought I
should share this with you and the rest of the people who read the newsletter!

I think you should all read A Year Down Yonder by Richard Peck. It
won the Newbery Medal this year and is the sequel to A Long Way From Chicago. In
this book, a girl named Mary Alice goes to live with her grandma in her hick town for a
year. This book is amazingly funny, and the plot and characters are VERY memorable.

I Read The Chronicles Of Narnia By C.S. Lewis And They're Great!!!

My favourite book series is Animorphs. I'm collecting them. I've got
over 20 so far.

Hi MISTER Booker T. Worm. I didn't know about Earth Day. Until you
told me about it.

Thanks for writing back and telling me about earth day. To tell you the
truth, I did not know about it. Now that I do I think I will pick up trash in the park.

I love to read books. I love the boxcar children because I like Benny. He
is the cute one. I like Violet because she is pretty. I like Henry because he is cute. I
like the other one because she is pretty. I love books.

I like this site a lot. It has everything for young writers that they
could ever want to do! I'm eleven years old and this is the perfect age group for me!!!

I loved the book "The Island of the Blue Dolphins" and its
sequel "Zia". They both have to do with a girl named Karana who is an
Indian and when her tribe leaves the island she lives on her brother forgot his spear and
she had to go save him which made her miss the ship. Will she and her brother
survive? To find out read "The Island of the Blue Dolphins" and "Zia"
by Scott O'Dell.

I love to read books. Some of the books that I read are Beverly

First off you need to make sure the kids who write in hit spell check
before they send it. They also need proper capitalization. I also think they need proper
grammar. I can't stand it when people don't use proper English. For instance "I
catched the ball" doesn't sound right. "I caught the ball" sounds perfectly
fine. Another thing that doesn't sound right is me and "Stacey are gonna go to the
store." It's "Stacey and I are going to go to the store. "That is what I
think your letters need changing of.
Well I do have some great suggestions for books though. One I think is great is Holes.
Another I really like is the Nancy Drew series. I like Love Stories and Spy
Girls. Freak the Mighty is also really good but sad. I also liked Bloomability
and Chasing Redbird by Sharon Creech. I also like the Sweet Valley Jr. High,
Babysitters Club, Two of a Kind, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and the Full
House series.
* * * * *
My favorite book is Charlotte's Web.
* * * * *
I just loooooove books all sorts of books! My favourite series of books
are called: the Magic Attic Club.
* * * * *
I am reading Ozma of Oz, by Frank Baum. It is very good and it is
the sequel to the book, The Wizard of Oz.
