A True Story
Mom said she'd be home in 10 minutes.
She wasn't.
The neighbors said not to worry.
I did.
They said he'd be at home again in a couple hours.
He wasn't.
My sister and I said we didn't know what 'Collapsed Lung' meant.
We did.
Everyone said my brother was fine.
He wasn't.
I thought he'd never get better and come home.
He did.
(PS. Hugs and kisses to my big brother and his angel!)

What is friendship?
Friendship is a gift given, not taken
a beautiful thing that should never be mistaken,
With paper of silver and ribbons of gold
as big as the heart will hold.
Its bursting with happiness and laughter
that will last forever, even after,
Feeding the hunger your soul longs for
and it will never ask for more.
It provides you with a hand when you're in need
and gives you a happy seed,
Thats small, yet big to those who have it
never allowing you to quit.
Friendship is a never-ending dream
with a center filled with cream,
Thats white, fluffy, and tastes just right
with each and every bite.
Its filled with good times and bad
so many, theres no point to add,
With the bad shaped as darts
and the good shaped as hearts.
It contains people who care
never turning the dream into a nightmare,
Who are always there to calm your fears
by lending you their ears.
Friendship is a magnificent song
thats over a million verses long,
A song thats sung by all
yet no one really knows what its called.
It mends the hurt inside you
as gentle as morning dew,
Making your spirit happy and bright
and everything in your life just right.
It provides wisdom on what to do
what path to follow too,
And it will go through everything with you
if you let it in.

I have, I'd fly away free. We are all like little birds all locked up in a cage, We all
have a need to be free, cause there's a world for us to see.

live with their mother and they meet this other boy. Also they meet three witches. The
witches tesser them through time and that means they traveled through dimensions in
different ways after that they go to a weird planet and everyone does stuff in the exact
same order. It was the best book!!! You have to read it. PS- I love the newsletters and

Dear Booker and fellow readers,
I just recently finished There's a Boy in the Girl's bathroom by Louis Sachar. It is about
this boy named Bradley Chalkers who sits in the back of the classroom. There's a new kid,
Jeff, who likes Bradley. Bradley threatens Jeff by saying, "Give me a Dollar or i'll
spit on you." Then Carla Davis the new school counselor comes and wants to talk with
Bradley. Find out more when you read this cool book.
Note from Booker: Find out more about Louis Sachar here.

Okay..guess what! My class read a book called Number the Stars by Lois
Lowry! It is about a little girl and her friend name Ellen. This takes place during the
Holocaust, and the persecution of Jews. It is a heart-touching story and I would really
recommend it to anyone who likes history!

It would be really cool if you could give out ideas from the books so we
wouldn't have to buy a book to make cool crafts.
Note from Booker: That is a great idea! We will see if we can do that. In the
meantime, ask your librarian or your teacher if they have any craft books you can borrow.

Here is a review I have on the novel Bat 6. The novel, Bat 6,
by Virginia Euwer Wolff is about a baseball game played by the two cities of Barlow and
Bear Creek Ridge. I really enjoyed this book. In a unique way this book
combines history and fiction to be both educational and interesting. I feel that
girls would especially enjoy reading this novel since it primarily has to do with girls.
Through out the novel the affects of the World War 2 battle and how it affected the
girls lives in these two communities. This novel taught me a lot about World War 2
and I did not find it boring like a normal history book as our given out in school.
This novel helped me learn as well as keep me intrigued. I just wanted to
share my review with you in hopes that you could share it with others.

I would definitely like to recommend the C.S. Lewis books. His books are
long and sometimes you want to give up but then you just can't stop. THEY ARE SOOO HARD
!!!!!!!!!! I mean they get boring but The Wayside School books are much easier and full of
excitement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also I'd like to recommend books by Louis Sachar (my Favorite
author) especially Wayside school books such as :Wayside school is falling
down, Sideways stories from Wayside school, Wayside school gets a little stranger and
more. And I'd like to recommend another book by him:There's a boy in the girls
bathroom!! I'd recommend the C.S.Lewis books for ages 10 -16
And the wayside school school ages 8 and up.
Note from Booker: Thanks for the recommendations! For more about the Narnia books
by C.S. Lewis, click here.
