A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

How is school going for you? It is hard to believe the end of the school year is not too far away now. The worm kids are looking forward to their Spring Break. They like school, but they also like the holidays. The teachers at the school are pretty nice, the kids tell me. They make sure all the worm kids follow the rules and study hard, but they also make learning fun. The teachers like to play games with the kids, do art projects, and have parties to celebrate holidays. What do you like about your teacher?

I hope your teacher is not like the teacher in one of the books we are featuring this month. Fox Family has a new cartoon series out that is called the "Angela Anaconda Series."  You can read one of the stories from the cartoon in the book THE TROUBLE WITH TEACHERS. In the story, Angela gets into trouble at school for a poem she wrote because her teacher thought it was a poem about her. You see, the poem Angela wrote was about a dog. You can see why the teacher got upset, if the teacher thought the poem was about her. This is a great book for readers about the ages of 7-10. I think you will have a laugh or two as you read it. I wonder how your teacher would act if she found a poem like the one Angela wrote.

Question of the Week
We have created a new feature called Question of the Week. Each week we'll post a new question on Kidsreads.com and in the newsletter. Here's this week's question:

DEEP DOO-DOO AND THE MYSTERIOUS E-MAIL
Sixth grade is turning out to be the trickiest year ever for Bennet, Pete, and Elizabeth. Bennet and Pete are best friends, Bennet and Elizabeth hate each other, and Pete has a huge crush on Elizabeth. Got that? Things are even more complicated because the kids have similar interests that put them in competition with each other, whether they like it or not. Bennet and Pete run their own news website called Deep Doo-Doo, and Elizabeth is the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, The Purple Patch. What do Bennet, Elizabeth and Pete do when they discover the secret of the pumpkin on the flagpole? Find out in this fun whodunit.

JACK BLACK AND THE SHIP OF THIEVES
Jack is deliriously happy when his father, the captain of the airship Bellerophon, says that Jack can go along on the ship's maiden flight as the most junior member of the crew. The Bellerophon is a huge airship, an aircraft that looks like a blimp but is about five times bigger. Thousands of spectators turn out to watch Bellerophon take off --- and Jack is on board! Read more about the book in our review.

Spring

Spring comes and winter goes,
It's time to take out the hose.
Robins chirp and fly around,
Then they fly back to the ground.
God made everything,
That comes and goes in Spring.

The Mermaids

I saw them giggling in the water,
I saw them talking on the sand.
I saw them laughing in the seaweed,
I saw them watching me on land.

Horses, Horses
All different kind
Some are white
or some are
brown but that
does not matter
because what
really counts
is by their
ways

I dream of a land,
so deep in my mind
A land that is great,
a land that is wise
A land where I escape,
from the horrors of life
That surrounds me by day and leaves me at night.

Spring is here! Spring is here! But doesn't it seem queer that spring is here? The flowers are growing and the warm wind is blowing. Oh how joyful it is that spring is here! The children are playing and everyone is saying "SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!"

There He Goes

There he goes
My secret crush
He makes me blush
I feel like mush
I feel as small as a thrush

He's so cute
He's a beaut'
How much? Absolute!
As sweet as fruit
Makes me wanna hoot

Why are lawyers worried about little websites created by kids?  If we're not selling anything about Harry Potter, then they shouldn't care.  They should find out more about the website before they contact the creator.

Note from Booker: To read the news story about Warner Bros. trying to shut down some Harry Potter websites, click here.

I would just like you to know that I would recommend "Ella Enchanted" as a very good book for young adults who like fairy tales.

I have been reading the Replica series. They are about a girl that is a perfect clone and they have big mysteries and a lot of suspense. They aren't about monsters, just regular people. They are the best books that I read. If you like suspense and an interesting story, read the Replica series by Marilyn Kaye.

I'm a Girl Scout leader. I am always looking for ideas to use, resources, books to read... I just finished "Living with Cannibals," a book about women adventurers past and present. An excellent and inspiring read for girls and women!

I am also reading the book Holes. So far I read to chapter 12. I love this book very much. I am Reading it in our reading class and we are writing to Stenley (other people in our class) and he writes back to us. It is fun.

The book The face on the Milk Carton was great, and so was THE VOICE ON THE RADIO, and WHATEVER HAPPENED TO JANIE?, but what Janie found was a huge upset! If anybody else read that book, they know. I think you should read it for closure on the series, but other than that I don't recommend it!

I love the book Brandy, because it  tells things all about her and her life. If more kids start to read it they might begin to read more things about her, and learn more things about her. I have read so many books about her, that now she is my role model. Someday I will be like her.

Another book about puberty:
the book is called The Care & keeping of you the body book for girls. Its made for ages 8 and up. the book is written by Valorie Lee Schaefer. it is a great book. i got it from the american girl library. this head to toe guide answers all your questions, from hair care to healthy eating, bad breath to bras, periods to pimples, and everything in between. with tips, how-to's, letters from girls, and facts from the experts, here's straightforward advice you can really use.

The two books  Quidditch Through The Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them are so good. They are fled with stuff that will help you understand the Harry Potter books better. Plus the money spent is given to the charity Comic Relief. If you are a Harry Potter fan these are for you.
