WHO AM I?

Read the three clues in each group and decide which of the young adventurers from the MY NAME IS AMERICA series is being described. Hint: You can find the answers in the book reviews on Kidsreads.com.
1. WHO AM I?
- At fourteen I joined two explorers on an adventure.
- We started in Missouri and traveled clear to the Pacific Ocean.
- We mapped mountains, prairies, and places where no one had been before.
2. WHO AM I?
- I was an American boy who loved to play baseball.
- I wrote letters from prison to my best friend in San Francisco.
- I was angry because I was a loyal American but had "the face of the enemy."
3. WHO AM I?
- At sixteen I became a soldier in the war between the states.
- My commander asked me to keep a journal of our movements.
- Many of my friends and fellow soldiers died in battle.
4. WHO AM I?
- In the mid 1800s, I was a hard-working ranch hand.
- Our job was to herd cattle from Texas ranches to the market in Abilene, Kansas.
- I had to cope with long days, stampeding cattle, and prejudice against
African-Americans.
5. WHO AM I?
- My father and I traveled west to help build iron rails from the midwest to California.
- The work was dangerous but I was proud to help unite our country.
- I spent my time off reading my favorite authors, Jules Verne and Mark Twain.
6. WHO AM I?
- When I was twelve, my hometown became enraged by the acts of the English king.
- My friend, Mr. Wilson, was one of the people who secretly fought against the English.
- I became a spy for the rebels, also called patriots, in the war between the colonies and
England.
7. WHO AM I?
- My original home was in the lands that became Georgia and Tennesee.
- The United States government said our land belonged to them and we must move.
- My tribe was forced on a brutal journey to Oklahoma and many died along the way.
8. WHO AM I?
- My family left Finland to settle in Minnesota.
- My father and I worked in the mines digging ore.
- My father and I spoke out against the labor conditions.
9. WHO AM I?
- I started as a bat boy but I had always wanted to be a ballplayer.
- Our baseball teams weren't very well known, but we had great players.
- Someday I hope to be like my hero, Jackie Robinson.
10. WHO AM I?
- At fifteen I joined a wagon train headed for California.
- Our wagons followed the wrong trails and became trapped in the mountain snow.
- People were starving and some resorted to cannibalism.
