Professor Trelawney predicts what will happen in HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS!
What do YOU think will happen? Welcome back! It’s so good to have students again, now that that dreadful Umbridge woman is gone. Had an awful aura, did that woman. Slate-gray. Well, good riddance, I say! And now, once again, I can share with you all my wonderful talents for predicting what’s to come. I admit, I have been gazing very closely at my crystal ball this spring, and I warn you! This year brings changes, great changes, both bad and good. Lean in closer to the Orb, children, to get a glimpse of what the Inner Eye sees… …Aaahh, something is appearing from the mist. I see a tall young man, who has just come of age. Lots of red hair and freckles. Ronald Weasley, himself. He’s moving towards something. Is it danger? Death? Adventure? Definitely the last one --- this young man has a very exciting year ahead of him. But what’s this? He’s not alone. There’s another figure moving towards him…hmmm, I see lots of bushy brown hair and a young woman’s face. Well! These two seem to be very familiar with each other. Appear to be kissing each other, in fact… Hmmm, move in around me, dears. The lights of the Orb are swirling dark and light. This signifies a conflicted soul…yes, yes, I can see it all right here. My, my! It appears to be an old Hogwarts professor, indeed. I think you all recognize his black hair and sharp nose, and his way of always scowling at everyone. That’s right, Severus Snape. But is he as bad as he seems? Oh, no! My crystal ball is telling me that his heart is not as dark as most of us thought --- that, in fact, he may prove to be a hero, assisting a younger black-haired person defeat evil. Aaah, yes --- this professor will be crucial in the defeat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, mark my words! So crucial, in fact, that he might lose his life in the battle between light and darkness.
What’s that? What are you asking me? Oh, now I understand. What about those who have already passed on? Well, let me open my Inner Eye a bit further, as death is often a mysterious subject. Yes, quite right. I see an old mentor and teacher. Beloved by most, and feared by a few as well. He truly is gone --- he has passed. However, no great wizard is ever completely forgotten, especially one who was accomplished enough to be Headmaster of Hogwarts! Yes, I do believe that Albus Dumbledore might still be able to offer all of us a bit of advice, if only from the wall of his old chambers… …I know he’s not the only one you are all curious about. There is one other whose fate has been less than clear. We saw him disappear nearly two years ago, behind the veil. He was both godfather and friend --- and it’s still a mystery as to where, exactly, he disappeared. What was behind that fluttering curtain? Death? I think not, children, I think not. In fact, I do believe we have not seen the last of Sirius Black. How, you wonder? Well, if you cast your memory back…Sirius gave his godson a very special way to communicate with him shortly before he disappeared. Yes, I see, you are remembering! A pair of mirrors! One is in Harry’s hands…and the other? No one is really sure, correct? However, the Orb tells me that these mirrors will be very important in the next few months, yes indeed. Only time will tell what will be seen in their surfaces. There seems to be a jumble of doo-dads twirling around inside my crystal ball…yes, there are several objects --- a cup, a piece of jewelry, another object bearing the marks of Rowena Ravenclaw --- floating within its curved walls. And twining throughout them all is the largest snake I have ever seen! Pitch black with knowing, almost-human eyes, I get the feeling that this isn’t just any animal. No, the Orb is telling me something about these items…yes…the snake, definitely not only a creature, but more! And what else have we here? A lovely, large golden locket engraved with an “S”. Hmmm, this item has been hidden away for a very long time, and only recently discovered again by someone dishonest and money-loving, with sandy-colored hair and a penchant for stolen goods. If Harry Potter is looking for this locket, he really ought to find Mundungus Fletcher… Phew! The Orb is beginning to dim, I am afraid. It is nearly out of portents of what will become of Harry Potter and You-Know-Who. Ah, but wait! The mist is clearing one more time, and if we are quick we might see what is to become of the Dark Lord and the Boy Who Lived. I see a great struggle, of both mind and body. I see a battle of two taking place in a remote location. Good versus evil. I see…evil clearly falling, being defeated. But does good survive? Well, good will always live on in our hearts --- as for Harry, I am afraid his future is uncertain. But I am certain of one thing – Harry Potter will give anything, including his life, to see He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named defeated. Now, I do believe it is time for all of you to gaze into your crystal balls and tell me what you see for the future of Harry Potter and all those who touch his life…
